Teaching by Example

Kristin Hickford, a teacher at a Year 0-6 primary school on the West Coast, is a new user of the Waste Exchange. Kristine read an article about the extension of the Waste Exchange service to the Coast in a local newspaper and decided to check out the website. She saw potential in a listing of 40 large five litre plastic ice-cream containers, which she collected and shared amongst the other teachers for use as storage containers. The containers are now home to physical education equipment, resources (such as maths games), and craft items (such as extra long pipe cleaners).
“Being a school we try to reduce and limit costs. I found that Waste Exchange was a thrifty way of getting some of the items we need at little or no expense.” Kristine also found the set up of the service simple to use and convenient. “It’s easy to access items (on the website) and it’s absolutely fabulous getting the updates” (regular emails about things that might be of use) Kristine says. “It has been very simple and very straightforward. I will definitely use it again.”
