Structure

TerraNova is a not-for-profit organisation. It was set up to work with local businesses to identify opportunities to utilise materials recovered from the wastestream. This requires both business and political acumen, and TerraNova's Board of Trustees has a good combination of these in its representatives, drawn from related organisations or businesses.

Location:

Our main office is located at 81 Buchanans Road, Hornby, Christchurch. This is where all administration, research, information and waste exchange services are carried out.

The site where materials are delivered for processing and marketing is in Parkhouse Road, next to the EcoDepot. The site is not open to the public unless by prior arrangement.

Paper is processed at the Paper Plant in Buchanans Road. TerraNova operates the paper sorting system and material is baled under a contract with Canterbury Baling Ltd through Carter Holt Harvey.

Recycling drop off areas, where the public can drop usable and recyclable materials, are situated at the entrance of each of the three EcoDepots, operated by Meta NZ Ltd. Usable items recovered here are transported to the SuperShed, just off Pages Road in Aranui, for checking, cleaning and sale. Curios and collectibles are displayed in the RetroShed section at the rear of SuperShed.
