Scouting Out Free Resources
The North Beach Scouts are now able to sing for longer, thanks to A5 ring binders they got from Waste Exchange.
| Cub leader Liz Fox keeps an intermittent eye on the listings, and was looking for folders to use as songbooks for the children. “We usually just have pieces of paper, but hoped that if they could be put in a folder they would have more longevity” she says. Initially Liz missed out on the popular binders, but unbeknownst to her Exchange Co-ordinator Jim Forsman added her name to a waitlist. When more folders became available Jim contacted Liz directly. |

The scout group also recently picked up industrial rubber conveyor belts which they hope to use as weed matting when landscaping around hall, and polystyrene vaccination boxes. These will be painted as a winter project and turned into plant boxes, and idea Liz got from an article in an earlier edition of Recycling Works.
“It’s always difficult for voluntary groups like us to get resources as we don’t have much money” says Liz. “Free resources really come in handy. It saves us money and lets us get something we might otherwise have had to do without. I think it’s a very good service.”
