1. Education and Information
Educating and informing key target groups on reuse and recycling opportunities, processes and products.
Services:
- Delivery of education programmes to schools in Waimakariri District and Christchurch city on behalf of local councils
- TerraNova Visitors’ Centre displays various products and processes, in conjunction with plant and site tours

- Publications and feedback on end uses for materials in conjunction with kerbside recycling promotion.
2. Facilitating Materials Diversion
Developing markets and services for the recovery of reusable/recyclable materials from the wastestream.
Services:
- Waste Exchange Service
- Management of the Recycling Centres, SuperShed and RetroShed retail outlets for reusable goods
- Developing and managing sorting and processing systems for materials recovered through kerbside collection and recycling centres
- Developing partnerships with private businesses to expand their operations through additional support.
3. Technical Research and Product Development
Advancing knowledge and understanding of recycling technology, practices and processes.
Services:
- Recording and reporting on various processes and technology developed by TerraNova
- Assisting with costs and processes for securing intellectual property rights
- Commissioning research and development work through universities and CRI’s.
4. Affiliations and Advocacy
Working with key sectors to advance the goals of sustainable reuse and recycling within New Zealand.
Services:
- Membership to and representation on appropriate organisations
- Submissions on local and central government plans and policies
- Papers and presentations to associated groups and educational institutions.
